Social media for job hunters

Posted by Direct Line Group at 01:52 PM

Social media has rapidly become the centre of many people’s lives. It’s where they keep in touch with friends, get their news, play games and generally live an entire digital life. But it can also have practical benefits if you know what you’re doing.

It’s quickly become normal for employers to check out potential new hires on Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn to get an idea of the ‘real’ person they might be hiring, and not just the controlled version they see in an interview. As frightening as that might be for many, you can turn social media to your advantage when looking for a new job.

Remember that social media is more than just a place to hang out and share memes. Used in the right way it can help you find and secure your next job. View the infographic below for a summary of what you might use, and when (click to open in a new window).
