Values Pioneers

An introduction from one of our Values Pioneers

Posted by Values Pioneers at 10:56 AM

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Lorraine and I work in HR Learning Delivery in Glasgow as a Trainer.  I primarily train people when they join us for the Motor Claims Response department which is the first point of call for the customer if they have been involved in an accident and Roadside Rescue Operations which again is the first point of call for the customer if they have broken down.  I've just finished my NVQ qualification in Learning and Development at the end of last year and I’m currently in the middle of planning my wedding… only 4 months to go!!

As a company we have created new Values that we strive to achieve in our everyday working life and at the moment I am Values Pioneer which I absolutely love!  The role of a Value Pioneer is to work with the Cultural Transformation Team to act as a catalyst for change in embedding our new culture and values throughout the business. Over the coming months and years the Value Pioneers will act as the cultural conscience of the business in their individual locations, exploring and developing new ways of thinking and encouraging others to do so too, on our journey to transform our business.  Our main aim is to make sure that our company values are embedded across all our sites.

The Glasgow Value Pioneers recently ran an event around the value "Bring All of Yourself to Work" where we created Santa's Christmas Grotto/Wonderland in our building.  In this we invited people to "Bring all of themselves to work" and bring kids along, including nieces, nephews, grandkids etc to show that we as a company are evolving and want to encourage a working life balance.  We had just under 110 kids and what great fun it was for us never mind the kids.  We had a range of activities including meeting Santa, face painting, card and decoration making and dancing area and we had some great feedback around it.  It was a great day and to say that we had no crying, no injuries or no misbehaving was a massive success (for us).  Might turn my hand to become a face painter although I will need a lot of practice first!

I am currently up skilling my knowledge in to Bodily Injury and Counter Fraud as there is quite a lot of training for our new ClaimCenter system coming out very soon as well as working on supporting with the Chief Executive awards which are coming out in February, where people are awarded when they do great things for our company.

My personal goals for this year is to get fitter for my wedding in Cyprus but to also travel to places I have never been before and on that list is Italy as I have family from an lovely place called Lucca which I have never met before and also New York as I’ve only ever seen it in the movies, hopefully I will be able to spot a few famous celebrities, I’ll keep you posted if I manage any of these...
