Do you already work for us and have a friend or relative as talented and motivated as you are? Would they be right for Direct Line Group? You can now refer your friends and family as candidates for roles to work here. Here’s how.
All you need to do is access Workday; choose “Career” on your homepage and select “Career opportunities”. Click on the job you would like to refer your relative or friend to then, once in the job description, select the “Refer” button. Complete the “Refer a Candidate” form, ensuring you include their full contact details, an e-mail will then be sent asking them to sign-in and complete the application questions.
Should your friend be successful in their application you will receive payment with your salary, subject to tax and national insurance, in line with the schemes set out below. You will need to keep in touch with your friend to see how their application is progressing as no communications will be sent to you by the recruitment team.
You can refer friends to any job in the company – but currently only some areas of the business are offering referral bonuses for doing this. Each business area pays for their own referral costs so its down to them to decide if they want to pay a bonus for employee referrals or not.
Make sure you follow the Refer a friend policy when you make your referral. Also, remember that you need to refer a friend to a specific job; it can’t be a general referral of the friend to Direct Line Group.

Accident Repair Centres
If you ‘Refer a Friend’ who is recruited as a permanent employee into a technical role (Panel Beater, Paint Technician, MET Technician) you will receive £500 and if your friend is recruited as a permanent employee into a support role you will receive £250 once they have been here for six months.
If you ‘Refer a Friend’ before 14th October to one of our Apprenticeships in Customer Service, DL4B or Claims in Leeds, Ipswich or Bristol you can receive up to £700 If they are hired. The first payment of £200 will be paid after they complete their initial training, a further £200 after 6 months and final payment of £300 after 1 year’s service.
Plus any referrals made before 14th October will be entered into our prize draw to win an iPad.
Chief Information Office
If you ‘Refer a Friend’ who is recruited as a permanent employee you will receive £1,500* once they have been here for three months.
For selected jobs the payment will be £3,000*
If you a refer a friend to our commercial areas and they successfully secure a role with us, you will receive a referral payment after 6 months of them being in the business.
The payment you receive will depend on the GGS grade of the role they secure:
£500 for any GGS9 or below role after 6 months
£1000 for any GGS10 and above role after 6 months
If you successfully ‘Refer a Friend’ for a permanent digital role you'll get £600* once they have been here for three months.
If you ‘Refer a Friend’ who is recruited as a permanent employee you will receive £1,000* once they have been here for three months.
Pricing & Underwriting (Personal Lines)
If you successfully refer a friend for a permanent Pricing & Underwriting role, you’ll get £1,000* once they have been here for three months.
Sales & Customer Service (Personal Lines)
If you successfully refer a friend to Sales & Customer Service (PL), you’ll get £50 at completion of their academy, a further £150 when they complete six months and a final payment of £300 at one year’s service. Successful hires referred between 6th June 2016 and 31st July 2016 will receive £500 at the completion of their academy training, £250 when they complete six months, and a final payment of £250 at one year's service.
If you successfully refer a friend for a Claims Generalist/Specialist contact centre volume role, you'll receive £500 once they complete six months' service. This includes:
Motor and Household - all roles
Claims Change - all roles
Network Fulfillment, Commercial & Assurance, Counter Fraud and Claims Risk & Assurance - all roles
Commercial - Technical & Large Loss Claims Handler roles, Commercial Claims Handler roles, Commercial Claims Team Leader and Team Leader for Technical & Large Loss
Claims Business Services - all roles
If you successfully refer a friend for a Claims Technical Specialist role, you'll receive £750 after they have completed six months' service. This includes:
Counter Fraud Intelligence roles
Disclosure and Senior MI roles
All other Technical & Large Loss Team Leader roles
