Commercial Lines is an increasingly meaningful part of Direct Line Group’s success story, making up £74m of DLG’s 2017 total operating profit of £611m. Going forward, there are ambitious plans to deliver further performance improvements via a pricing transformation program that entails using improved risk, geo and demand models, having an improved data infrastructure, and having access to an advanced suite of analytical tools.
What we’re looking for
This is an exciting career opportunity in the field of Commercial Lines pricing that would suit an experienced insurance pricing analyst, who has a real passion for delivering high quality pricing recommendations through logical analysis, and who is able to gain the trust of senior partners.
You’ll be a logical thinker but with a creative flair
You’ll have strong analytical skills - prior experience of Radar would be preferable, but not essential.
You’ll be a great communicator with strong relationship building skills
You’ll be improvement focused
Who you'll be working with
You will be working well with colleagues of varying levels and disciplines including the wider Pricing team, Underwriting and Business managers. Your direct line manager is Lyndsey Bright, Head of Packages Pricing.
What you’ll be doing
You will be part of the Commercial Packages Pricing team, but it is a varied role where you might assist with projects for other teams within the department. Your focus will be on Landlord, Tradesman and other SME products so if you have experience across these that would be useful, but not essential. You'll need to balance longer-term projects with fulfilling smaller requests, and be prepared to adapt your work as our business needs adapt.
As with any of our pricing roles you will have a responsibility to analyse product performance and provide insight to support our business managers in achieving their targets. You may also be involved in projects that implement new factors, data or risk model improvements into our rating algorithms, or aid development of our long term pricing capabilities.
It is important that we use your insight into modelling and risk when making strategic business proposals and decisions, so we are looking for someone keen to share their knowledge and experience. You will act as the bridge between the technical insights of our models, and the commercial realities of the business.
You will build relationships and represent the team. We need great presenters who can communicate complex pricing ideas clearly to colleagues from other business areas. We also need someone who can develop trust, and influence decisions when there are difficult choices to be made.
Commercial Lines are transforming their pricing capability, and investing in technology and data to support this. As a result there is plenty of opportunity for you to make an impact on how we do things in the future, as well as having an impact on current product pricing.
Proactive thinking and a drive to improve yourself as well as the work you and your colleagues do is also very important. This is a department that is always looking to improve, and your insight will be very valuable in our efforts to deliver a robust product which delivers great customer value.
What we’ll give you
We have a strong focus on developing you and your skillset and work hard to give you the tools to do so. In addition to this we also offer a generous benefits package including family and work life balance focused options such as: fully paid maternity leave and parental leave, flexible working, insurance savings for you and your family as well as a range of other optional benefits.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
9% pension contribution
25 days holiday
50% off home, pet and motor insurance
Direct Line Group are an equal opportunity employer who value diversity. We do not discriminate and we recognise and embrace that people work in different ways. We will always adapt so you have the best and most comfortable working environment. If during the recruitment process you require any reasonable adjustments, please just let us know.
Career benefits and rewards
Rewarding you is really important to us, as well as offering a competitive salary and generous holiday entitlement; you can take advantage of a wide range of benefits.
