This is a one year fixed term contract.

2019 is a really exciting year Motor business as we quickly move towards deployment of the new platform and looking forward to how it will drive value for DLG and our customers in the near future. Our focus is now moving quickly onto the Home product and we have a unique opportunity for someone with the capability and seek to help craft the product requirements for our home and ancillary products facilitating the critical link role between the Home Business and the Programme. This role will support the B4C Commercial Product Owner in ensuring we have a clear view of our requirements which support the home trading, manufacturing and customer objectives, deliver in line with these and then deploy these into the real world. The role will stretch your ability to influence, collaborate and operate effectively in an Agile delivery environment working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure we deliver the capability required to drive the future success of our home business (Own brands and existing and future partners). If you have a deep understanding of our insurance products, can balance a strong commercial and customer focus and have the ability to drive collaboration across multiple areas, influence and get to key decisions then we’d love to hear from you. The role will report into the B4C Commercial Product owner and sit within the B4C programme but will also maintain a dotted line to the Director of Household Development & Other Personal Lines to ensure we are aligned with the BAU teams.

You should also have the following:

  • Good Home product knowledge.
  • Commercial awareness essential.
  • Ideally trading experience.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment.
  • Stakeholder Management and ability to deliver through a matrix organisation/project essential.
  • Ability to quickly learn and develop new skills for use on the project.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You will lead and manage Home Product development and ensure it is aligned to the DLG strategic objectives, Home strategy and commercial priorities.
  • You will own the benefits and business case for Home Product and provide inputs to cross-functional business cases where appropriate.
  • You will provide direction on the overall profitability and performance of the product line, effectively owning delivery of Home Product and trading change in the B4C programme, aligning delivery to expected benefits enablers.
  • You will ensure that Home Product processes are accurately documented and maintained, aligned to the wider frameworks (programme and BAU), and provide Product input to broader journeys and processes
  • You will u2nderstand BAU Home Product activity in order to ensure activities are handled in the context of the B4C programme
  • You will maintain the prioritised feature backlog for the Home product, ensuring it accurately reflects the capabilities required and latest business needs
  • You will be the decision maker where Product position is required, (e.g. design approval or defect fix approach), and responsible for escalating to senior business reps where appropriate
  • You will be the "Go to person" for all aspects Home Product activity and lead transition of capabilities, knowledge and associated activities into the relevant part of the team
  • You will develop and lead effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders in order to ensure that all parties understand the product plan and strategic objectives
  • You will assist in developing the capability of people in the team; in particular ensuring that knowledge of the new infrastructure is shared and understood. Responsible for the development, coaching and mentoring of roles at other levels, including any direct reports
  • You will ensure compliance with the principles / outcomes of Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) and conduct risk requirements by demonstrating knowledge of the principles / outcomes, adhering to training and competency standards, and demonstrating the company values.
  • You will identify, own and handle the risks involved in running our business appropriate to the role, in line with the company risk framework.
