What we’re looking for:

You will be integral and accountable for ensuring our applications meet our growing business needs by maintaining, protecting and improving the application as part of our overall technology strategy.

Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver creative products that will lead and disrupt the insurance market, delivering excellence and continuous service improvement

Who you’ll be working with:

Sitting within Application Development and Maintenance (AD&M) we provide a number of services within Technology Services (TS), including end to end testing and Application Maintenance support services to ensure high availability of systems.

Some key focuses will be;

  • Own the design, development and test of software solutions across a range of technologies
  • Take the lead and influence business and technical partners to continually improve our products, solutions, tools and processes whilst driving up quality and reducing costs.
  • Work across multiple software engineering platforms, frameworks and tools to deliver creative solutions. Continually look to expand knowledge in new technology areas.
  • Apply agile software delivery practices, such as test-driven development, continuous integration/delivery, pair programming etc.
  • Work across disciplines (e.g. testing, business analysis, solution design, DevOps) and develop skills outside your core specialism
  • Using your interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills to bridge between the silos and bring different teams together to work towards a common goal

Required Skills

  • Previous software engineering experience, with deep technical end to end knowledge from design through to delivery utilising agile methodologies
  • Having worked as a developer, you will have strong and broad technology skills, as well as be an SME in a core language such as Java
  • Development Operations experience and have used tools like Docker and Kubernetes, etc.
  • Understand the intersection between DevOps and cloud architecture.
  • Communication, influencing, Stakeholder and interpersonal skills

Essential Skills

  • Strong skills in technology security and risk management
  • Proven Front End development experience building web applications with HTML5, JavaScript, React/Redux, Node.js, CSS3, SASS
  • Knowledge and experience of using RESTful APIs to retrieve data from back-end services
  • Experience of using testing frameworks and tools like Mocha, Automation tools like Grunt/Gulp
  • Working experience of AWS
  • Data visualization such as D3.js, UI / UX knowledge and experience is a plus
