If you are looking for an exciting career, really utilising your geospatial knowledge and skills, then our DLG team could be for you! Our Pricing teams are currently working remotely, so we would consider a mix of home and office-based working in the longer term.
We’ve adopted an agile approach that removes hierarchy within our roles, to free our people up to get things done and to deliver on projects as part of a wider squad. Our roles develop your skills and give you exposure to the wider teams. You’ll grow your expertise on the way, as well as developing and sharing your experienced knowledge and skills with colleagues.
What you’ll be doing:
Take the lead on using geospatial data and software to produce a wide variety of rating factors to enhance Personal Lines pricing models, with a focus on home risk premium models
Seek out new geospatial datasets and risk indices for use in pricing models, including through maintaining relationships with external data providers and academics.
Continuously improve our accuracy around geographic mapping and rating.
Provide insight towards the prediction of weather-based claims, especially those relating to flooding.
Develop your skills and knowledge, and that of the team, to build the expertise required to achieve current and future business objectives, including through secondments and rotations
Ensure compliance with core Direct Line Group Policies, statutory and regulatory requirements, governance controls (including all relevant risk minimum standards) and timely completion of risk and audit actions. Ensure reputational risk is minimised.
Ensure compliance with HR processes, talent management, performance management and people strategy
Ensure appropriate use of team building opportunities to build team (and wider) relationships in line with our values and people strategy
Reinforce the culture and core values of Direct Line Group through appropriate behaviours and actions
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for someone passionate about geospatial analysis and curious as to how we can further improve our understanding of geographic risk. The role sits within the personal lines Home Tribe and will focus primarily on predicting the technical price. It will involve working with key stakeholders such as underwriting.
Experience of ArcGIS applications necessary
Working knowledge of SAS, RADAR, R, Python and/or Emblem is preferable but not essential
An effective communicator at all levels. Be able to demonstrate strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills, including a proven ability to interact with Executive and Senior Management.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a general insurance analytical role or equivalent experience in another industry
