The role

About the Role:

We have created a cutting edge cloud-based (AWS) Analytics & Data Science platform to truly unleash the value of our data assets, and this role is designed to create competitive advantage for us by enabling the effective use of data. This is a hands-on internal consultant role and works in close partnership with the business to identify, develop and embed innovative analytical solutions.  You will own and drive the execution of data initiatives that are varied in nature and will require a wide spectrum of skills ranging from process automation, data modelling, statistical analysis and data visualisation.

What we're looking for:

Effective team players who are humble, ambitious and have strong people skills. You'll be able to translate complex data sets and analysis into actionable recommendations and present them to colleagues across multiple levels of seniority and knowledge. You’ll flourish in an agile environment and be familiar with the associated methodologies and ways of working.

You'll have advanced knowledge of ‘code-free’ analytics tooling (e.g Alteryx or Knime), and data visualisation technologies such as Tableau.

Ideally you'll have experience of using cloud technologies (e.g AWS) and integration of data using APIs. It would also be great if you have knowledge of programming languages like R or Python, although this isn't essential.  By conducting exploratory data mining and applying mathematical and statistical techniques, you will be translating complex business challenges into well-structured analytics deliverables.

Who you'll be working with:

You’ll form part of our Data Chapter and Data Enabling Tribe; working alongside Squads in our new Agile structure to champion best practices, knowledge and standards whilst proactively working with others showcasing new capabilities and driving innovation within the wider data community.

What you'll be doing:

  • Partner with the business to understand their data challenges and build technical solutions to address these needs.

  • Deliver prioritised use-cases from the Analytics & Data Science Innovation backlog with quantified benefits captured.

  • Translate complex data sets and analysis into actionable recommendations and present them to business stakeholders across multiple levels of seniority and knowledge.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement by working with both the Analytics & Data Science Innovation squad, as well as the wider business to anticipate, shape and deliver the work.

  • Proactively identify and deliver proof of concept(s) at pace to demonstrate the ‘art of the possible’.

  • Ensuring the ethical use of data by complying with core DLG policies, statutory and regulatory framework(s).

What we'll give you:

We have a strong focus on developing you and your skill set and work hard to give you the tools to do so. In addition to this we also offer a generous benefits package including 25 days annual leave, family and work life balance focused options such as: fully paid maternity leave and parental leave, flexible working, insurance savings for you as well as a range of other optional benefits!
