Agile Coach
We are Direct Line Group – home to some of the country's best-known brands including Direct Line, Churchill, Privilege, Greenflag, and NIG. Our vision is to create a world where insurance is personal, inclusive, and a force for good, and our purpose is to help people carry on with their lives, giving them peace of mind now and in the future. To help us deliver on this vision and purpose, we've moved to Agile ways of working for certain segments of our business including Tech, Data, Marketing & Digital, and Pricing & Underwriting (there are others too!). In service of sustainable growth, changing market conditions and exponential progress to meet the expectations of our customers, we need to have an environment and culture to do this creatively, safely, and securely, to grow even further.
How would you like to join an Agile Coaching team with a real focus on how we build agility across the organisation, adapt our focus with the needs of the teams we coach and raise our capability through adopting various disciplines? We have a clear focus on value delivery, optimising organisational flow over team sub-optimisation and professional coaching to grow performance.
What we are looking for:
Capability building, and the quality of the coaching support that teams receive, is vital for the success of our agility. Our Agile Centre of Expertise acts as the catalyst and conscience for Agile in DLG – there to role model and support the behaviours we need to develop to continuously improve Agile in DLG.
Being passionate believers in Agile and the benefits it delivers for our customers and people, Agile Coaches provide hands-on guidance, support, and coaching across Tribes and COEs.
Through understanding the organisational and business context of the teams they are working with, they are standard-bearers of our Agile methodology.
- Certifications or in-depth knowledge in the scaling Agile frameworks
- Expert in Agile Scrum, Kanban, Test Driven Development - experience or equivalent in a role of scrum master or product owner
- Systems thinking: experience analysing and connecting concepts across the E2E value stream
- SDLC: Demonstrated understanding of the software development lifecycle and technical change delivery
- SAFe certification is preferred
What you'll be doing:
As the Agile Coach you will be the advocate of the “DLG Agile Way”. We will look to you to coach Squads, Product Owners, Chapter Leads and Tribe leads. Not only about how to embed Agile tools, techniques and practices, but more so about how to ‘be’ Agile by embedding the behaviours that bring out the collective brilliance of self-managing teams.
We need your support and knowledge to give squads and tribe/chapter leads the tools and techniques to: become more self-aware of their agile maturity, own their evolution, provide constructive feedback and identify areas of improvement.
As Coaches, everything you do will be about ensuring teams can do this effectively, whether that is addressing team dysfunction, encouraging better collaboration for creativity and innovation, ‘holding the mirror’ up to poor behaviour, or challenging Product Owners and teams over whether they are really prioritising for value and aligning to wider organisational goals.
We want you to:
- Bring together business feedback and actively contribute to iterations of the “DLG Way” for Agile
- Be a driving force in our Agile community, looking both internally and externally to drive the Agile craft’ and continually improve
- Work with leadership to improve organisation flow and prioritisation in line with the business strategy
What we’ll give you if you're successful in securing this role:
- 30 days annual leave (at this level) + bank holidays
- Annual bonus of upto 20%
- 50% off of DLG Home/Motor/Pet Insurance
- Free travel insurance
- Free breakdown cover
Ways of Working:
Here at Direct Line Group, we recognise the importance of flexibility, not only in our personal lives but also in the way we work. Our mixed model way of working offers a 'best of both worlds' approach combining the best parts of home and office-working, offering flexibility for everyone.
We’ve ditched the daily commute for a virtual first approach. If you do come into the office, there are exciting workspaces and zones you can use, depending on the type of work you are doing.
How much you’ll be in the office depends on your role, and we’ll consider the flexible working options that work best for you. Please get in touch with the team to discuss!
