About us

Direct Line Group is going through an exciting transformation to be the leading data driven business in the UK's general insurance market. You'll join our commercial division and help to revolutionising B2B insurance. You'll work as part of a team maximising the value of our data assets, expanding competitive advantage for DLG with the use of data.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with the business to understand their data challenges and build technical solutions to address these needs.

  • Perform data analysis tasks to support the delivery of insight/visualisations for our core data analytics platform, using our strategic insight toolsets
  • Perform end to end delivery of insights / visualisation needs within the business. Covering requirements gathering, analysis, design, ETL, programming, testing, training, handover and ongoing support of solutions.
  • Translate complex data sets and analysis into actionable recommendations and present them to business stakeholders across multiple levels of seniority and knowledge.
  • Ensuring the ethical use of data by complying with core DLG policies, statutory and regulatory framework(s).
  • Produce documentation & training for users, and technical documentation for use by other members of the team.

What you'll need:

Enthusiastic team players, who also have a broad range of skills so that you can partner with the business to lead and foster our data-driven culture. You'll work in an Agile environment to test, learn & adapt your approach to deliver value and are familiar with the associated methodologies and ways of working.

You'll need substantial experience in the following:

  • Data visualisation tooling with experience in the interpretation and visualisation of outputted data. (Qlik Sense)
  • Data querying Languages / tooling. (SQL)
  • Experience applying and role modelling best practice.
  • Incident and problem resolution and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Train and upskill others through the likes of presentations, documentation & workshops.
  • The insurance industry in a commercial capacity
  • Jira and Confluence

Who you'll be working with:

You will work as part of a cross-functional agile delivery team, including a data analyst, engineer as well as business experts in areas such as Pricing and Underwriting and trading where appropriate. We appreciate the knowledge and skills that each one of us brings to the business. It's hard not to be encouraged by the things that make us unique. You will report to a Chapter Lead within the Data Tribe.
