The role:

As a Data Governance Analyst, you'll help implement Direct Line Group's (DLG) Data Governance framework and contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of new Data Governance practices. You'll build and embed data assets for DLG's enterprise Data Governance capability, including business glossaries, data dictionaries, and data quality and integrity rules. As a Subject Matter Expert for Data Quality and Data Governance, you'll engage and coach teams across the company in adopting Data Governance skills and expertise. You will help embed a culture of excellence within DLG.

What you'll  do:

  • You will collaborate across the business to evaluate and deliver Data Governance practices, and ensure standards and frameworks are observed

  • You will contribute to business and IT change projects from a Data Governance perspective, coaching business and technical SMEs

  • You will coach and guide Data Owners, Stewards, Analysts, and Scientists to ensure they are trained to deliver their data governance responsibilities for their functions

  • You will manage controls for data access and reporting, track the benefits of Data Governance practices, and improve data quality and integrity

  • Provide delivery, financial and risk MI to DLG stakeholders up to ExCo level with regard to the status and progress of Data Governance delivery

  • Contribute to the Data Governance Forum with items such as: deep dives, data quality dashboards and reports, data lineage maps, risk and issues logs

  • Assess and benchmark to identify priority areas for improvement in Data Governance and Data Ethics

  • Track the benefits of Data Governance and Data Management practices for DLG

  • Manage Data Quality/Governance issues and incidents

  • Design, oversee and share best practice training materials to socialise across the business

What you'll need:

  • Familiarity with industry best-practice in data governance and strong knowledge of data governance and ethics principles, practices and methods, as well as the relevant data governance issues, policies and regulatory requirements that affect the business environment

  • An understanding of underpinning data governance technology landscape such as SQL and Databases, Cloud/AWS data formats and designs

  • Experience building data dictionaries, business glossaries, lineage maps and other data governance focused artefacts

  • Experience of using SQL and other coding skills to identify, code and deploy data quality and data integrity checks and build data quality dashboards

  • You can analyse databases and documentation to build data lineage maps that you will use to lead the delivery and adoption of data governance within the Group

  • Experience in data quality issue root cause analysis and the design of remediating solutions

Who you'll work with:

Reporting to the Head of Data Governance you will work with a broad spectrum of stakeholders across DLG, including Data Owners, Data Stewards and SMEs. You will also work with business and technical stakeholders who are delivering process and technical changes to ensure that data governance and ethics principles and practices are a fundamental consideration for any change initiative.
