PR Manager
What we’re looking for
We are looking for a talented PR Professional to join the award-winning team at Direct Line Group (DLG). DLG is one of the UK’s leading insurance companies, operating market-leading brands including Direct Line, Churchill, and Green Flag.
This role will be a full-time, 18-month FTC, working in a mixed model from home and our Bromley office.
The role would suit a PR and crisis communications specialist, working to deliver an excellent media relations service. The successful candidate will work with product experts and collaborate in marketing squads to support business activities to protect and enhance the reputation of the brands within our Group. The role involves working closing alongside our roster of PR agencies to deliver award winning proactive campaigns.
Excellent communication, relationship building, and stakeholder management skills are key to success in this role. We are looking for an individual who has had experience in dealing with sensitive customer issues and crisis communications scenarios.
The role is best suited to a candidate that is a creative thinker and writer, who enjoys working on dynamic PR initiatives that deliver incredible cut through in the media.
Who you’ll be working with
The business operates an agile model, with PR experts embedded in marketing squads, liaising closely with craft colleagues.
What you’ll be doing
Creating and implementing the PR strategy for one of the DLG brands
Management of retained Personal Finance & Consumer PR agency
Work with a wider roster of consumer PR agencies on selected product/brand activations
Providing communications counsel to the business – on both complex customer issues, as well as crisis communications and reputation management scenarios
Supporting the Head of News and Issues with regulatory and industry issues, including liaising with our corporate function to draft statements and reactive commentary
Establishing a strong internal network across Direct Line Group
Ensuring a prompt and informed response to queries and complaints from journalists across a wide range of issues
Hosting regular f2f meetings and hospitality events with target media
Demonstrating a broad working knowledge (deployed with media) of the products and services offered
Providing timely and clear updates to the Head of News and key business managers on media activity in advance
Working closely with the Social Media team to enhance and amplify PR stories and where required work with our SEO agency to ensure alignment of content and output
Working proactively to identify opportunities and secure positive coverage through features and news stories across all target media
Skills:
PR experience in an agency or in-house (ideally working with firms in financial services or another regulated industry)
Crisis management experience
Established media relationships
Excellent knowledge of the UK Press
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify market trends
Creative problem-solving ability
Resilient under pressure
