What we're looking for:

We are looking for someone with a Professional Accountancy Qualification, who is able to provide technical application and interpretation of accounting and regulatory policies and standards to Finance and the wider business.

You'll have good insight into the insurance industry, and strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial services, and regulatory developments, as well as IFRS17.  You’ll be a creative thinker and be able to apply your knowledge effectively to practical situations.

We need someone who has great written and verbal communication skills, who can collaborate effectively with stakeholders (including an offshore partner) and can also demonstrate excellent technical narrative and report writing.

Who you'll be working with:

You'll play an important role in our Accounting and Regulatory Developments team, which is part of the External Reporting Centre of Expertise within Group Financial Control.

You’ll work closely with our many business areas, giving advice on technical accounting issues, so being able to collaborate with them and understand their key business activities is important too.

You'll also be working with our offshore partner, as well as the wider external reporting team.

What else will you be doing:

  • You’ll produce impact assessments and to support implementation activities in the following areas: 

    • Accounting standards

    • Financial services and regulatory developments, including Solvency II

  • You’ll undertake technical review of:

    • Group annual report and accounts

    • Group half year and quarterly announcements

    • Entity financial statements

    • Regulatory reports

    • Other external reports as required

    • Quarterly Solvency II QRTs and valuation adjustments

  • You’ll need to ensure that the Group accounting manuals are maintained in line with accounting and regulatory developments.

  • You’ll oversee specific Group technical accounting entries, including share based payments under IFRS 2.
