Technical Controller Claims Handler
We now have a great opportunity within Claims Technical & Large Loss department to join us as a Technical Controller. This is a full time, permanent role based in our Glasgow office
What you will be doing:
You will support the Home Large & Complex Loss management team to deliver initiative claims savings, settlement cost performance, large loss emergence and considerably contribute to claims technical strategy and practice. Other responsibilities are:
- Claims servicing to meet or exceed SLA’s and caseload /FTE targets across all classes at all times by utilising operational performance data.
- Responsible for the engagement and performance of suppliers ensuring they adhere to the policy and contracted terms
- Assist Technical Property & Liability Claims Manager as DLG‘s principal SME for Large & Complex Loss by providing technical experience and advice to colleagues in other departments and by participating in internal DLG forums or projects & initiatives and representing DLG at external forums.
- Assist team leader & assume joint responsibility mainly focusing on trainings and audits for the colleagues, and development and engagement within the property and liability large loss team.
- Support and embed professional risk management as key part of culture to the standards encouraged of an independent organisation as tested in a due diligence process
What we are looking for:
You'll need a consistent track record in handling large general perils claims, such as fire, flood, escape of water and environmental claims. Experience of handling subsidence claims would also be a significant advantage (not essential). Other skills are:
- Ability to manage a caseload of complex and high value household property claims from notification to completion in accordance with agreed SLA's
- Use experience to proactively coach and mentor less experienced individuals on the team.
- Ability to act as a key contributor to the development of technical claims strategy and best practise
- Ability to communicate effectively with both members of the team and senior partners across the business
