What we are looking for:

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our Claims team as a Claims Analyst on a full-time, permanent basis.

Ideally, you will have strong data manipulation and interpretation skills, a consistent track record of utilising business intelligence skills with complex and large datasets. Analytically minded and a strong problem solver, you’ll have the ability to interpret and present both qualitative and quantitative data analysis and be motivated to find end-to-end solutions.

Other skills:

  • Relationship management skills
  • A proficient user of Microsoft applications e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • SAS Enterprise Guide (or equivalent) experience is desirable, as is experience of Tableau, Qlik Sense, Alteryx or Power BI
  • The ability to investigate issues and problems and make recommendations for business improvements
  • Mindset to be innovative and challenging in your approach to work; being able to overcome obstacles by generating new insights and ways of doing things

Ways of working:

Here at Direct Line Group, we recognise the importance of flexibility, not only in our personal lives but also in the way we work. Our mixed model way of working offers a 'best of both worlds' approach combining the best parts of home and office-working, offering flexibility for everyone.

We’ve ditched the daily commute for a virtual first approach. If you do come into the office, there are exciting workspaces and zones you can use, depending on the type of work you are doing

How much you’ll be in the office depends on your role, and we’ll consider the flexible working options that work best for you. Please get in touch with the team to discuss.

This role will be mainly done from the comfort of your home with occasional meetings/ training in our Leeds office

What you will be doing:

In 2021, DLG spent c.£1.72 Billion on net claims. This important role is to help us understand, interpret and analyse this ongoing spend – the frequency of claims, the types of claims and the severity of claims.

Working alongside other Claims Analysts within the Motor Performance Insight & Analytics team, you'll report directly to the Motor Business Partner. You will need to be good with numbers, but it’s more about what the numbers mean and how we can use data to drive business performance.

Other duties:

  • Produce analytical output, both written and oral, to explain and improve business performance
  • Provide expertise, data and analytics to successfully deliver projects, both within Claims and the wider business
  • Use code and statistical techniques to interrogate data, identifying trends and improvement opportunities for key drivers across the business as well as producing forecasts for future performance
  • Using your experience, both professionally and that gained away from the workplace, to help us be innovative, dynamic and continuously curious
  • Focus on costs, process improvements and efficiencies to contribute to the profitability of Direct Line Group

What we will give you:

  • A competitive and comprehensive reward package
  • A detailed and tailored induction plan
  • An opportunity to join a high-performing and dynamic analytics team and develop new skills
  • An opportunity to utilise software such as SAS, Qlik Sense, Tableau, Alteryx and more
  • A friendly, supportive and progressive business with ambitious objectives and plans

We have a strong focus on developing you and your skillset and we work hard to give you the tools to do so. In addition to this, we also offer a generous benefits package including family and work-life balance focused options such as: fully paid maternity leave and parental leave, flexible working, insurance savings for you and your family as well as a range of other optional benefits

Working hours - 35 hours a week Monday- Friday
