What you'll be doing:

You will report into the Workspace Engineering team to deliver and maintain cloud-based products to support Direct Line Group. You will take the lead and influence business and technical stakeholders to improve our products, solutions, tools and processes.

You will work closely with our product owners, architects, application engineers, and security team to identify work that improves the stability, security, and self-service nature of our infrastructure, driving those ideas and projects from inception to completion.

  • You will support users and development teams to leverage Azure capabilities to build and migrate desktop operating systems, software, and services on the AVD platform

  • Provide hands-on subject matter expertise and ensure that the tooling to deploy and manage our infrastructure is automated, secure, and easy to use

  • You will support the core infrastructure for our existing test and production environments and assist other engineers in quickly debugging and resolving production-related issues

  • Identify and collect metrics that allow the Engineering and Management to pinpoint areas for improvement and measure change.

  • Improve our products, tools and processes

  • Keep track of technical debt and identify and leverage opportunities to reduce it.

  • Understand the total cost of ownership of your solutions (including licenses, support, infrastructure etc.) and innovate to reduce it.

  • Identify and actively manage risks within your solutions.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to adopt continuous improvement initiatives. Champion efficiency, automation, and software development best practice in general.

  • Establish, enforce and continually improve development standards, tools and frameworks.

  • Continually collaborate with and influence business and technical stakeholders while demonstrating leadership and thought provoking initiatives.

What you'll need:

  • In-depth knowledge of Azure services and cloud computing

  • Microsoft Operating systems

  • Endpoint Management solutions

  • Experience of software deployments using Microsoft endpoint

  • Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) and trouble-shooting application issues involving permissions, registry settings, AD, GPO, FSLogix, network and proxy issues. PowerShell scripting experience is also desirable as is prior experience of a VDI platform such as Citrix or RDS.
