The role

As one of our Azure Cloud Infrastructure engineers you’ll be part of the team with responsibility for the design, delivery and operation of our new environment within Azure. We’ll look to you to align and constantly improve the value to DLG in line with our overall technology strategy and direction. As DLG develops and moves forward in achieving our goal of accelerating our cloud first strategy so will this role, and we are looking to develop this role into the future state of managing, continuously improving and supporting  the end state environment through a combination of internal and 3rd party teams..

N.B

  • This is a hybrid role and will involve working from home combined with office time in London c.one or two days per week plus any other ad hoc days (we are currently based in Bromley, moving to central London in Summer 2023).

Who you’ll be working with

We are delivering a set of ambitious plans to transform our technology for the future, evolving the systems, platforms and infrastructure that our people use day-to-day. You'll join our Infrastructure Platforms team which sits within our wider ‘Core Technology’ department, reporting into Matthew Ashton (Head of Infrastructure Platforms).


What you’ll be doing:

  • Deploy solutions in Azure and ensure continuous maintenance and compliance of those services
  • Maintain solutions deployed in Azure ensuring they are available, secure and align to business requirements
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code for new and existing cloud-based solutions
  • Ensure the deployed solutions have the necessary observability and monitoring in place
  • Ensure the Azure enterprise landing zones are aligned to best practise with continuous compliance and improvement
  • Windows Server and Linux operating system build and configuration
  • Operating system golden image build and maintenance
  • Maintain and manage patch management processes
  • Azure networking
  • Work with the security teams to ensure platform security is maintained within DLG’s risk appetite
  • Ensure there is effective knowledge retention of all Cloud technical aspects through documentation and communication
  • Ensure all infrastructure and services are provisioned to agreed security and compliance standards including defined specifications and tagging polices.
  • Provide 3rd level expert support during incidents and follow through with support for problem management
  • Ensure DLG’s change management processes are followed for all changes to the environment
  • Maintain subject matter expertise of public cloud markets and emerging technology trends related to public cloud
  • Develop own external / internal network to gather intelligence and promote DLG as industry leaders in the field of Cloud solutions
  • Provide input to service management processes as required (e.g., availability & capacity management)

What you’ll need

  • Experience managing senior stakeholders, building buy-in through written and verbal communication
  • Experience with Azure and preferably AWS cloud technologies, engineering and implementation patterns and architecture
  • Delivery focused with the ability to drive tasks forward and meet demanding deadlines along with strong problem investigation and diagnosis skills
  • Robust technical experience in Cloud/Azure infrastructure design, build and deployment, including networking, connectivity, storage, virtualisation, and identity
  • Implementation of Azure networking for enterprise organizations
  • Securing, managing, and monitoring Azure environments
  • Experience building and deploying resilient Azure cloud architectures and migrating and modernising workloads from on-prem data centres to Azure
  • Well versed in Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Azure Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, Azure Active Directory, AD Connect, Operations Management Suite/Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Azure App Services, Azure Storage, Azure Import/Export, Azure SQL Server, MySQL, Azure Automation, Active Directory
