What you'll be doing:

Reporting into the engineering chapter, you will own the strategy of a complex set of technology platforms covering the development, testing and implementation of those platforms to meet both our outcomes and align to our technology strategy.

  • Influence and manage the implementation of Core Claims Platform and Technology strategy and roadmaps aligning to outcomes, aligning to engineering, architecture and standards and security standards. Working within constraints of budgets and organisational prioritisation. 

  • Lead organisational change and process redesign to allow reliable and agile technology, limiting technology debt and maximising reuse of platform standards and codebase.

  • Maintain subject matter expertise of the external market and new technology trends related to the platforms and best practices in software delivery and operational management of platform.

  • Leverage Agile/DevOps best practice to exploit improved delivery, automation and ensure monitoring of the solutions developed for the platform

  • Develop insights and plans to maximise value from the platform while ensuring effective management of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

  • Align end-to-end practices to DLG risk, control, methodology and development standards (e.g. code reviews, segregation of responsibilities, ITIL)

  • Ensure that DLG values and behaviours are reflected and promoted throughout the organisation.

  • Own development and leadership of a team of in-house and third party resources, ensuring performance management, coaching, communications and talent management.

  • Ensure Operational Stability of all Claims platforms and minimising any downtime and providing high service levels by implementation of observability metrics and automation.

  • Ensure culture of Constant Service Improvement is lived within the team while ensure waste is minimised within the platform

  • Partner with third-party suppliers to deliver the platform for the Business, from development, through to test and implementation maintaining Technology Architecture and standards

What you'll need:

  • Substantial and practical experience working in a development-driven and operational based environment.

  • Experience in a software delivery and operational management environment

  • Understanding the tools landscape related to automation, code control, deployment, orchestration

  • Strong collaboration and ability to work in a complex technology and culturally diverse organisation

  • Experience with TCO and the impact of decisions on project and DLG financials

  • Technical and planning knowledge relevant to the Claims technology landscape, including Guidewire V9, V10 and Cloud and AWS/Digital platforms and integrations.

  • Manage end-to-end platform lifecycle

  • Governance and control experience, complex and technical change in a regulated environment

  • Business knowledge related to the Core Claims organisation/Business – specifically from a technology platform perspective
