Senior Manager - Corporate Development (Mergers and Acquisitions)

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to drive real growth through innovative and effective corporate development. As the Senior Manager, you’ll be providing in-house advisory service to the business - aligned to the corporate strategy – enabling the business to support current and future customer needs and fulfil our vision. Working with our Head of Corporate Strategy, you’ll plan and develop a cohesive M&A inorganic growth strategy that will shape the future of Direct Line Group, and identify and execute M&A and JV/partnerships to create tangible and long-lasting impact for the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Assessing the competitive landscape, identifying new M&A opportunities as a strategic advisor, from origination through to transaction and supporting integration – in line with the Group objectives and key results (OKR’s)
  • Leading large, complex transactions from end-to-end by managing the deals process, building commercial models, and developing valuation / deal structures
  • Building financial models, forecasts, and valuation analyses
  • Reviewing project documentation and due diligence materials to identify potential risks and analyse, optimise, negotiate, infrastructure transactions
  • Developing a deal pipeline by conducting industry research and cultivating new relationships with bankers, Private Equity (PE), and external advisors (eg consulting firms, external lawyers, accountancy firms)
  • Managing key relationships with our Group CFO and the Executive Committee (ExCo), external clients and partners, and wider strategy and Finance function
  • Making recommendations on the attractiveness and feasibility of start-up acquisitions, disposals, and investment opportunities in both core and new business areas

Who you’ll be working with

You’ll be reporting into the Group Director of Strategy and M&A, as part of the wider Group Strategy Team which sits within the CFO directorate. But, you'll be a trusted advisor to DLG’s executive and senior leadership on corporate development activity.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with extensive transaction advisory and corporate development experience, preferably gained within consultancy, investment bank or in-house within a FTSE company. You’ll help develop, maintain and lead corporate development and fintech programme aligned to DLG’s corporate strategy – allowing us to support current and future customer requirements and expectations.

  • Experience working within corporate development / M&A for insurance clients - with a good working understanding of valuation and capital modelling
  • Strong understanding of the insurance and/or InsureTech landscape
  • Excellent communication skills – with experience facing off to Executive Committees (ExCo) or similar
  • Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment

Ways of Working

You’ll be joining our Group Strategy team, which meets c.1x a week in-person. We're currently based out of Bromley, but moving to London Bridge soon!
