What we’re looking for:

DevOps is a new team at Direct Line Group and is helping to build the next generation enabling services that will run the DLG of the future. It forms part of the wider Application Development & Maintenance function, but has close ties into operational aspects, security and architecture; and is seen as a trusted partner and collaborator by those functions.

The team has been instrumental in building out the DLG Cloud Foundation, making use of Infrastructure as Code and automation to accelerate the journey. As part of that initiative DevOps has been leading the charge in moving to cloud-native technologies and working with born in the cloud technology partners.

DevOps was one of the first teams in DLG to pilot the use of Scrum and has implemented agile collaboration tools for the use of the wider organisation. The team is relatively small (10 at full strength), with a flat structure.

Who you’ll be working with:

Sitting within Application Development and Maintenance (AD&M) we provide a number of services within Technology Services (TS), including end to end testing and Application Maintenance support services to ensure high availability of systems.

Some key focuses will be;

  • Work with internal and external suppliers to design and build the configuration management, release, deployment and operations cycle to meet business and operability requirements.
  • Amplify feedback loops - and increase the frequency - through the automation
  • Work within project delivery teams to own the SDLC approach to meet DLG requirements through in to production and operation.
  • You will need to have excellent skills within Cloud especially Amazon Web service (AWS)
  • Identify and implement opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in the development and continuous deployment of applications.
  • Build core secure enabling services forming the base for the DLG Cloud Strategy

Required Skills

  • Validated operation experience of managing cloud services (Cost, Budget, Monitoring etc)
  • 2+ years’ experience with AWS
  • Terraform / Infrastructure as code
  • Jenkins / Git / Nexus
  • Linux

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of scripting languages e.g. Python / Java
  • Ansible, or Puppet/Chef
  • Docker and containerisation
  • Cloud Formation
