We have a fantastic opportunity for a Cloud FinOps Analyst to join our Infrastructure Platforms team. You will deliver detailed data analysis of our Cloud consumption across all Cloud venues and all Cloud hosted technologies including identifying consumption trends and optimisation opportunities. Additionally, to further mature DLG’s adoption of the FinOps Framework.

You will proactively monitor, manage and optimise DLG’s Cloud spend, maximising the return on investment to our business. This will be achieved through the development and maturity of customised reporting and dashboarding to further enhance the insights to key stakeholders at all levels.

This is a hybrid role with two working days a week from our London office

Who you'll be working with

At DLG (Direct Line Group) we are delivering a set of ambitious plans to transform our technology for the future, evolving the systems, platforms, and infrastructure that our people use day-to-day. You’ll join our wider ‘Core Technology’ department whose mission is to design, deliver and collaborate to enable foundational services.

Within this you’ll be part of the Infrastructure Platforms team comprised of the new Cloud FinOps Team alongside multiple SMEs for different technology towers including Compute, Storage, Networks, Database and Middleware, Mainframe and Capacity Management.

The team has a continuous improvement mindset and we’re looking for curious minds and critical thinkers who will work collaboratively to identify and analyse trends and opportunities to optimise our environments.

What you'll be doing

  • Perform daily data analysis of our Cloud consumption across both AWS and Azure and all cloud technologies to identify trends, usage spikes, and wastage removal to maximize return of investment to our business.

  • Provide customised cloud reporting and dashboards to internal stakeholders to provide a mature insight into the drivers behind the costs of each business line, application or service.

  • As a member of the Cloud FinOps team you will Identify cost optimisation opportunities, including but not limited to Rightsizing, Reservations, Savings Plans, Wastage Removal, technology upgrades.

  • Take ownership of regular cost optimisation forums with key stakeholders to maximise business value via the execution of cost-efficiency workstreams.

  • Contribute to the cloud budget model and reporting actual cost vs budget.

  • Create and track KPIs for Cloud FinOps effectiveness and identify and implement improvements.

  • Mature the Cloud FinOps practice via the automation of existing manual FinOps processes and tasks.

  • Work with Cloud FinOps colleagues to provide cost forecasting across DLG’s cloud estate for proposed and planned changes or new workloads and provide cost comparisons across AWS, Azure, GCP.

  • Collaborate with DLG’s Procurement and Supply Chain team to report on enterprise level commitments vs consumption and future consumption across agreements such as AWS PPA and Microsoft EA.

  • Report on cost tagging compliance across all Cloud venues to internal stakeholders.

What we look for

We want to make sure you are set for success, so here are some of the skills and experiences we’re keen to see. We understand you might not tick all of them, but we’d still love to hear from you.

  • FinOps Practitioner certified

  • Foundation-level technical knowledge or certifications of both AWS and Azure.

  • Experienced with Cloud cost management tools including Cloudability, AWS cost explorer, AWS Cudos, Azure Cost Management and PowerBI.

  • Ability to influence decision-making through clear informed evidence-based data and build healthy trusted relationships.

  • Excellent ability to communicate technical information in a clear and precise way to all levels of technical and non-technical stakeholders whether verbally or written.

  • Knowledge of cloud economics, budgeting, forecasting and cost optimisation.

  • Data driven with an analytical background.
