What you’ll be doing

Key Accountabilities

  • Incorporate data into existing and new pipelines by bringing data from any source/platform and associated tools that can be used for enriching P&U Modelling and Reporting
  • Manage data processes and data processing requirements for all key commercial BAU and Pricing processes including but not limited to rate carried, pricing packs, scored loss ratio, model refreshes etc.
  • Assist with planning and assembling of requirements for new sources of data for modelling and wider P&U
  • Be well versed in Data Governance, process checking to ensure data integrity
  • Work closely with pricing teams, implementing structured data suitable for their uses and produce quality MI.
  • Assist with the development of Alteryx based processes to support the Data & MI Manager and Head of Pricing & Underwriting to deliver modelling benefits to Commercial Lines
  • Assist in blending, enriching and streamlining pricing data.
  • Liaise with Central Data Team to streamline P&U data processes and implement best practice based on federated guidelines
  • Develop yourself in order to maximise your personal contribution to the team and identify opportunities to gain additional skills, including through secondments and/or rotations
  • Identify, own and manage the risks involved in running our business appropriately to this role, in line with the company risk framework. Communicate to peers and team managers in a timely manner where you have discovered price, model or data issues and suggest appropriate remedial actions
  • Plan, manage and deliver specific tasks and projects in a pro-active, timely and accurate manner, providing insights, impacts and recommendations
  • Assist with the development of Alteryx based processes to support the Data & MI Manager and Head of Pricing & Underwriting to deliver modelling benefits to Commercial Lines
  • Build, Support and help further develop Alteryx based data models and management information reporting
  • Provide analytical support and insight to inform business decisions and strategy, with a responsibility for ensuring robustness of output
  • Engaging in technical discussion with external suppliers as well as internal stakeholders to ensure current and future business needs are met
  • Ensure adoption of best practice in terms of data cleaning, blending, circulation and maintenance
  • Interact effectively with peers in other areas of DLG to improve knowledge share and understand impacts of your work across the wider business.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements to enable tasks to be performed in a more efficient manner. Challenge current processes appropriately with suggestions as to how these can be refined
  • Suggest recommendations to improve DLG’s pricing performance and longer-term pricing capability.
  • Assist with the development of pricing models and ensure their appropriate use and application. Monitor the effectiveness of models on an ongoing basis to ensure they are fit for purpose and suggest areas of development
  • Develop knowledge of pricing and underwriting systems and processes; develop your business, market knowledge and awareness of relevant industry issues which impact your area & incorporate in the work that you do

  • Ensure compliance with core DLG Policies, statutory and regulatory requirements, governance controls (including all relevant risk minimum standards) and timely completion of risk and audit actions, ensuring reputational risk is minimised
  • Reinforce the culture and core values of DLG through appropriate behaviours and actions
