At Direct Line Group, insurance is just the start. Combining decades of industry experience with talented people in every field from data, technology, customer care and auto repair, to HR, finance and procurement , we’re a customer-obsessed market powerhouse. And we all work together to be brilliant for customers, every single day.

DLG's growth is supported by our Risk function. From Regulatory Liaison, Regulatory Advice and Compliance Management Information to Privacy and Data Protection, our Risk and Compliance teams keep us one step ahead, always. With links to every part of the business, and the responsibility for keeping people safe and compliant with all regulatory, claims, and underwriting controls, we’ve got opportunities to develop your skills no matter your specialisation.

We are currently recruiting for a Regulatory Risk Manager to join us on a full-time and permanent basis.

The role:

Reporting to our Head of Technical Policy and Advice, you will provide expert subject matter advice and guidance to the business on new regulatory developments and compliance with all relevant Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) regulatory requirements.

Who you'll be working with:

You’ll work with multiple business areas across Direct Line Group, building a strong network of contacts to provide advice and guidance on risk and compliance matters.

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the development, delivery, and implementation of Direct Line Group’s (DLG’s) strategy for the management and mitigation of regulatory and compliance risk and conduct risk.
  • Identify, own and manage the regulatory risks involved in running the business, in line with the Direct Line Group risk framework.
  • Proactively identify and analyse sources of key new or revised regulations or UK Government legislation in order to assess the potential impact on DLG and ensure key internal stakeholders are appropriately informed of relevant issues on a timely basis; coordinate DLG’s responses to regulatory consultations and support the effective delivery of these views to the regulators and other relevant fora.
  • Develop a network of contacts in business functions and leverage these relationships to enhance the compliance function’s knowledge and understanding of material risks to regulatory compliance; communicating all key, relevant compliance issues on a timely basis in order to achieve compliant, pragmatic solutions to business issues.
  • Contribute material and relevant regulatory conduct matters to the Compliance reports to the Board, Board Risk Committee, and Risk Management Committee

What we're looking for:

We are looking for a Regulatory Risk Manager to provide expert subject matter advice and guidance on regulatory developments.  You’ll have:

  • experience with regulatory change, and the ability to understand regulatory developments and their relevance to our business
  • the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and provide advice and guidance to the business on regulatory compliance and conduct risk issues.
  • the ability to communicate complex pieces of information to colleagues at all levels in a clear and simple way
  • clear verbal and written communication and presentation skills that enable you to draft responses to regulatory consultations
